Galerie Koch is pleased to announce the exhibition of new works by Renata Tumarova, an artist from St. Petersburg who now lives in Berlin.
In her current series, Tumarova focuses on experiencing nature and visualizing the sensations and moods it evokes. She combines figurative and representational motifs with abstract color compositions, the latter serving primarily to symbolize nature. The moods conveyed through her brushwork, application of color, choice of hues, and especially light, range from vibrant and dynamic, as seen in her series Aguas, The Kids Are Alright, and Water Players, to contemplative, as in Moving Mirror, At the Park, or works like Visit to the Horizon.
Tumarova’s works are distinguished by technical brilliance and a strong sensual suggestiveness. She masterfully conveys both the joy of experiencing nature and the distinctive character of natural spaces, even with a high degree of abstraction.
Born in 1979 in St. Petersburg, Renata Tumarova studied at the Academy of Arts, St. Petersburg (Russia) from 1997 to 2001, and at the Berlin University of the Arts from 2002 to 2007 under Professors Karl Horst Hödicke and Valérie Favre.
