(2) Peeter Verbrugghen (ii)
(b Antwerp, bapt 17 Aug 1648; d Antwerp, 9 Oct 1691). Sculptor, stone merchant and etcher, son of (1) Peeter Verbrugghen (i). After his apprenticeship with his father, he went to Rome in 1674. While there he is known to have made drawings (untraced), presumably after Gianlorenzo Bernini and the Antique, which were used by his brother (3) Henricus-Franciscus Verbrugghen. In 1680 Peeter (ii) gained his mastership but remained in his father’s workshop as a collaborator. In 1691 he became Dean of the Guild of St Luke. He was a fine craftsman rather than an original artist.
