(2) Jean-Joseph-François Tassaert
(b Paris, 1765; d Paris, c. 1835). Engraver, son of (1) Jean-Pierre-Antoine Tassaert. After studying under his father in Berlin, in 1787–8 he visited London, where he worked with Francesco Bartolozzi, and in 1792 settled in Paris. He worked as a stipple engraver producing portraits (e.g. Charlotte Corday) and historical scenes from the Revolution and the First Empire. He also produced engravings after the pastel portraits by his sister (3) Henriette-Felicité Tassaert and flower paintings by Pierre-Joseph Redouté.
