Lumikangas, Pentti
(b Kylmäkoski, nr Tampere, 23 Nov 1926). Finnish printmaker. He graduated as a graphic designer from the Central School of Applied Arts in Helsinki in 1949. A few years later he obtained a small press of his own and began to produce free, expressive prints, which he exhibited in Finland from 1954 and abroad from 1959. At that time his themes were minimalist, architectonic forms (e.g. Pillar Landscape, Gate, Stone Wall and Shadow on the Wall; all Stockholm, Nmus.). He used both drypoint and aquatint and produced large sketches for the finished prints.
