German family of painters and draughtsmen. (1) Johann Ulrich Loth brought the styles of Caravaggio and Rubens to southern Germany. By his wife Livia Krumpper (d 1661), a painter of miniatures, he was the father of (2) Johann Carl Loth, who made his home in Venice, where many of his religious works are still to be seen.
