Franchoys.
Flemish family of artists. Lucas Franchoys I (b Mechelen, 23 Jan 1574; d Mechelen, 16 Sept 1643) was a portrait and figure painter from an old Mechelen family. He was dean of the Guild of St Luke six times between 1603 and 1640. He probably trained both his sons, (1) Pieter Franchoys and (2) Lucas Franchoys II, as well as Nicolas Smeyers (d 1645), Antoon Imbrechts and Eloi Bonnejonne (d 1695), who married one of his daughters.
