Crivelli.
Italian family of painters. The most eminent member of the family was (1) Carlo Crivelli. His brother (2) Vittore Crivelli also attained distinction as a painter. Their father Jacopo ( fl Venice, 1444–9) and Vittore’s son Giacomo ( fl Fermo, 1496–1502) were also painters; no works by them are known to survive. Documentation concerning a third brother, Ridolfo ( fl c. 1487), who may have been a painter, was apparently known to 19th-century authorities; nothing substantiating this figure has come to light.
