Andy Goldsworthy (britisch, geb. 1956) ist ein Bildhauer und Fotograf, der für seine Werke in der Natur vorkommende Materialien zu Skulpturen verarbeitet und dies in Form von Fotografien dokumentiert. Goldsworthy wuchs in West Yorkshire auf und arbeitete in jungen Jahren auf einem Bauernhof. Durch diese Arbeit entwickelte er sein Bewusstsein für seine Umgebung und für die Vergänglichkeit in der Natur. Er studierte in seiner Heimatstadt Kunst an der Bradford School of Art und Preston Polytechnic in Preston, Lancashire. Während seiner Lehrzeit lernte er andere britische Künstler kennen, die ein ähnliches Umweltbewusstsein hatten, darunter Richard Long und Hamish Fulton (britisch, geb. 1945).

Seine Skulpturen sind meist vergänglich, doch durch die fotografischen Aufnahmen, die er vor, während und nach der Erstellung macht, sind bleibende Aufzeichnungen von jedem Werk gewährleistet. Die meisten Werke von Goldsworthy sind an entlegenen Orten, die der Künstler sorgfältig auswählt, erstellt. Doch einige seiner Werke werden auch in Galerien gezeigt und sein Ruf als innovativer und umweltbewusster Künstler verschafft ihm auch einige öffentliche Aufträge. Er hat bereits mehrere Bücher veröffentlicht, in denen er seine Projekte beschreibt und die ihn international bekannt gemacht haben. Goldsworthy ist seit Beginn der 1980er Jahre in Amerika, Europa, Australien, Japan, Kanada und sogar am Nordpol tätig, er wohnt in Schottland. 2001 produzierte Thomas Riedelsheimer den Dokumentarfilm, Rivers and Tides, der auf dem Leben des Künstlers Goldsworthy basiert.
