Studied fundamentals of photography, photoengraving, and lithography at Budapest Graphic Arts School.

Studies color separation in Munich for one year.

|
Studies photochemistry, color photoengraving and color filter making at National Technical School in Berlin,Germany.

|
Immigrated to New York City.

|
Opened a portrait studio at his home in Greenwich Village.

Received a commission from Harper's Bazaar to do a portrait of the Broadway actress Florence Reed.

Began affair with Mexican painter, Frida Kahlo.

|
Made a portrait of Frida Kahlo, while she was attending her exhibit at the Julien Levy Gallery in New York which became his best known and loved portrait.

|
Affair with Frida Kahlo ended, but the two remained good friends until Muray's death.
