Alex Colville is one of the best-known Canadian artists active in the 20th Century. He is one of he few Canadian artists to have achieved international status for his artwork. Colville’s work is characterized by meticulous planning and execution. This has resulted in a relatively limited output due to the lengthy gestation period for each work. Throughout his career, Colville has produced serigraphs, which he carefully plans and produces in his studio.

This will probably be one of the last serigraphs produced by the artist due to the significant physical effort involved in inking each screen with a squeegee many times over. Mr. Colville is in his 86th year, and is in remarkable health, but is concentrating on his paintings which involve meticulous planning and execution, and take a long time to produce.
