El próximo jueves 1 de marzo se inaugura en camara oscura la primera exposición individual en España de la pintora noruega Line Gulsett en el marco del I Festival Miradas de Mujeres que se celebrará en Madrid.
Line Gulsett (Tonsberg, 1981) es una de las más recientes estrellas de la nueva pintura nórdica, en la estela de movimientos tan fundamentales como la Escuela de Leipzig. Su técnica es de una perfección muy difícil de encontrar en un pintor de su edad y, sobre todo, su manera de plasmar visualmente la transición del movimiento es novedosa y absolutamente original por su fidelidad a la realidad. Sus pinturas en gran formato son reconocibles de manera inmediata. Esta exposición es su primer proyecto en España después de sus exitosas exposiciones recientes en los Países Bajos y Noruega.
Gulsett despliega en sus obras un extraordinario planteamiento de la representación del movimiento a través de la pintura. Casi podríamos decir que el óleo se mueve y literalmente se derrama en la dirección del movimiento que realiza cada personaje, lo cual se traduce en piezas que capturan momentos de gran dinamismo en una cápsula de tiempo. Más que intentar trasladar el movimiento al lienzo, lo que pretende es hacer un estudio descriptivo de escenas en su imaginación. El resultado es una gran riqueza de contrastes, tanto en su paleta como en los objetos y los personajes. La artista pinta espacios indefinibles por naturaleza en los que chicas con cortas faldas hacen cabriolas entre señales de tráfico y perros a la carrera. A través de inquietantes atmósferas crea una sorprendente estética con una utilización experta de los materiales creativos. Rápidas pinceladas, figuras pintadas con alegría desbordante, desencadenadas sobre un escenario apremiante y sobrio.
El I Festival Miradas de Mujeres reunirá más de sesenta exposiciones y actividades en las principales entidades y centros culturales de la Comunidad de Madrid durante el próximo mes de marzo, con el objetivo de dar visibilidad a artistas y profesionales implicadas en el mercado del arte, la investigación y la gestión de las prácticas artísticas actuales.

Next Thursday 1 March, the first solo exhibition in Spain of the Norwegian painter Line Gulsett opens at the camara oscura art gallery within the framework of the 1st edition of the Festival Miradas de Mujeres to be held in Madrid.
Line Gulsett (Tonsberg, 1981) is one of the rising stars of the new Nordic painting following the path of seminal movements such as the Leipzig School of Painting. Her technique, so close to perfection, is something rarely found in such a young painter but, above all, her manner to visually capture the transition of movement is totally new and absolutely original due to her faithfulness to reality. The large-scale paintings are instantly recognizable. This exhibition is her first project in Spain after her successful and recent exhibitions in the Netherlands and Norway.
In her paintings Gulsett displays an extraordinary approach to the representation of movement in pure paint. She allows the oil to flow and literally spread in the direction of the movement. This results in pieces that capture very dynamic moments in a vacuum of time. She does not try to translate observed movements to the canvas, but rather makes a descriptive study of imagined scenes. Her works are rich in contrast, both in palette and the objects and figures represented. The artist paints indefinable spaces in which short skirted girls prance between roadsigns and running dogs. From an unsettling atmosphere she creates a surprisingly aesthetic image through her expert use of the material. Fast flicks of paint and breezily painted figures set themselves off against pressing, sober backgrounds.
The first edition of the Festival Miradas de Mujeres will present more than sixty exhibitions and public activities in Madrid’s main institutions and arts centres during the month of March. Its objective is to give exposure to artists and professionals involved in the art market, the research and management of the current artistic practices.
