Newzones is proud to be celebrating its 20th anniversary this year.
Together as a mother/daughter team, Helen and Tamar Zenith have worked through both the shifting economic times and the ever-evolving art
world to make their mark on the Calgary, Canadian and international art scene.
Newzones’ mandate from the beginning has been to introduce and promote its Canadian artists not only in Calgary and Canada, but on the
international art stage as well. Calgary, according to the British Economist Magazine, is the 3rd most livable place in the world. A place such
as this requires culture and entertainment, and Newzones has always been committed to exposing its Calgary collectors to a wealth of talented
artists and housing museum-quality curated exhibitions.
On the international level, Newzones has been actively attending art fairs abroad for many years since 1994 in New York, Miami, Los Angeles,
Seattle, Chicago, Dallas and London, England. Presence at these fairs over several years has created international followings for several of
Newzones’ Canadian artists that would not have been possible without art fair attendance.
Over the course of 20 years, Newzones has showcased over 220 exhibitions. Its artists have been collected by Art Gallery of Ontario, Canada
Council Art Bank, National Gallery of Canada, Montreal Museum of Fine Arts, Art Gallery of Nova Scotia, Glenbow Museum, Mendel Art Gallery,
and Alberta Foundation for the Arts to name a few.
With great pride, we announce that NEWZONES has established the “NEWZONES Gallery of Contemporary Art Fund" at The Calgary Foundation.
This fund will contribute to a wide range of charitable organizations that support Calgary's Visual Arts Community.
