Gallery concept

Located on Potsdamer Strasse within the former Tagesspiegel complex, Side By Side Gallery Akim Monet focuses on thematically curated exhibitions that juxtapose modern and contemporary art.

In walking distance from Mies van der Rohe’s landmark building the Neue Nationalgalerie, the former Taggespiegel complex on Potsdamer Strasse has been recently dubbed “the new hub for up and coming art galleries” and as “a new gallery-hotspot on the Berlin map”. The site now houses the Blain|Southern gallery and NolanJudin and it is located in the immediate vicinity of Arndt Berlin.

Side By Side Gallery relies on Akim Monet's deep knowledge and subtle understanding of the history of 19th & 20th century art in order to explore and re-contextualize historically prevalent themes through modern and contemporary works of art.

By exposing thematic correlations, Side by Side Gallery moves beyond a singular chronological presentation in order to reveal converging and lasting influences.

Drawing upon his extensive international network within the art world, Monet has access to carefully selected works from distinguished private collections, artist’s estates and renowned galleries, as well as pieces coming directly from noteworthy contemporary artists worldwide.

The gallery holds three to five annual-seasonal exhibitions.
