Gavin Spanierman, Ltd. is pleased to announce Abstract Infidelities, a solo exhibition of paintings by the New York-based artist Lisa Corinne Davis, on view from September 15th to October 15th. The exhibition includes works created between 2009 and 2010, in which Davis continues he exploration of cultural signifiers and the roles they play in placing an individual within modern society.
As in the case of “Ostensibly Certain,” Davis’s gridded, multilayered compositions explore the innate tensions between combining the mechanical and the organic, striking a balance between abstraction and representation. The combination between the inorganic and organic is further enhanced by the use of artificial colors to increase the tension produced by the two forces.
Davis received her BFA from the Pratt Institute and her MFA from Hunter. Her work is included in the collections of The Museum of Modern Art, New York, The J. Paul Getty Museum in Los Angeles, The Philadelphia Museum of Art, and the Victoria and Albert Museum in London.
