From the Story of Judith, depicting Judith adorning herself before
encontering Holofernes, her attendants at her side, the borders woven with fruiting garlands with lions masks at the angeles, the upper inscribed JVDITH PVLCHERRIMA INDVIT SE VESTIBVS INCVNDITATI SVA VT BETHVLIAM BA EXCDIO LIBIRET, the lower right selvedge woven with the Brussels townmark and weavers inscription H. REYDAMS

This series of tapestries relates to three sets of tapestries after cartoons by Jacob Jordaens (1593-1678) now in the Czech National Collections which were ordered between 1650-1655 by Emperor Rudolf II, including two subjects from the History of Judith (see J.Blazkova, "Les Tapisseries de Jacob Jordaens dans les Chateaux tchecoslovaques," Her Herfsttij van de Vlaamse Tapijtkunst, Brussels, 1959, pp. 69-94.
