Peltz Gallery, situated in a grand two-story Queen Anne Victorian house, opened their doors to the Milwaukee art community in July 1989. The house creates a striking background for the gallery's art collection and Director Cissie Peltz states that "Fine Contemporary Art in a Landmark Setting" has now become their motto.

A member of the Milwaukee Art Dealers Association, Peltz Gallery is well-known for their collection of paintings by regional artists as well as prints by some of the finest contemporary artists. Cissie and her husband Dick's passion for collecting art began in the early years of the marriage. During a trip to Europe, they discovered prints and were "thrilled" to learn that they could own and afford original Chagall, Picasso, Leger works.

One of the aims of the gallery is to attract both young and veteran collectors alike. Cissie Peltz explains, "we welcome veteran collectors, but we also open our print portfolios to beginning collectors. Art students are welcome. My close associate in the gallery is an artist Cheryl Olson Sklar, a teacher at UW-Milwaukee of printmaking. We open our portfolios, and make young people who can't afford to buy, very welcome. We view them as intelligent clients of the future."

Currently the gallery represents about forty artists on a regular basis, including Warrington Colescott, Colescott's wife Francis Myers, John Sayers, Jeanette Pasin Sloan and Carol Pylant. Their inventory consists of works by Christo, Alex Katz , Ed Paschke, Philip Pearlstein, Kara Walker, and Andy Warhol among many others.

Currently on view at the gallery is the exhibition "Past/Present-Paintings, Prints and Video of Warrington Colescott and Frances Myers". The show runs through the end of December.

Opening on January 19th, 2007 will be "Artists of Color," a group show of African American Artists and forthcoming in April they will feature "Return of the Men" featuring artwork by artists such as Jim Dine, Christo, and Alex Katz.
