Debuted as a sculptor, working mostly in iron, sheet iron (tole), brass and aluminum
|

Studyied at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts in Paris (frequented the ateliers of sculptors Jean Tinguely and Germain Richier from whom he received his foundation in understanding sculpture)

1955 |
|
Exhibited for the first time at the Palmes Gallery in Paris, followed by a show at the gallery Contemporaries in New York where he encountered major art world individuals such as Leo Castelli, Robert Rauchenberg, James Rosenquist, Jasper Johns and Isamu Noguchi among others
|

1959 |
|
Won the Prize of the Critics at the Paris Biennale

1960 |
|
Began creating furniture that was dream-like and surrealist in spirit
