1961   Graduated from the Pasadena High School
1965   Earned a BA in Psychology from the Pomona College
1965 - 1966   Enrolled in Art Graduate Studies at the University of California in Irvine, CA, USA
1973   Earned a MA in Art from the Claremont Graduate School
1974   Received the Guggenheim Fellowship
1975   Received the Matching Grant from the National Endowment for the Arts
1980   Received the Visual Arts Fellowship from the Arizona Commission for the Arts and Humanities
1981   Received the Lumen Award from the New-York Section Illuminating Engineering Society with the International Association of Lighting Designers
1984   Received the Katherine T. and John D. MacArthur Foundation Fellowship
1985   Received the 'Bessie' Award in New-York, for best collaboration with a Dance Company
1991   Became Chevalier des Arts et des Lettres, France
1992   Received the Freidrich Prize in Frankfurt, Germany
1994   Received the Skowhegan Award for Sculpture
1997   Received the Governor’s Arts Award as Artist of the Year, Arizona
1998   Received the Wolf Prize from the Wolf Foundation, Israel
1999   Became Honorary Doctor of Arts at the Chicago Art Institute
