Biografie Emile Decoeur
1890 - 1907   Apprentice at Edmond Lachenal in 1890, he created his own studio at Fontenay-aux-Roses (Seine) in 1907. He makes vases from sandstone and porcelain with engraved and/or painted motifs that represent spirals, roses or geometric designs.
1910 - 1930   Emile Decoeur is on of the most accomplished potters from France between 1910 and the 1930's.
1920 - 1930   After the first world war, he worked in Paris. Exuberantly rejecting art nouveau and oriental style designs, he preferred very simply forms and pure lines heightened by a monochromatic glazing. This slight change of course accompagnies his satin or matte glazes.

In the middle of the 1920's, he created many beautiful pieces : vases, cups and bowls which sometimes were inspirational of Chinese forms. These objects were covered in glazes of diverse colors: green, yellow, pink, purple and blue. It had a subtle and sublime effect.

1939 - 1942   He worked in manufacturing in Sèvres where he stayed as an advisor until 1948.
